The Discovery line of laboratory systems furniture consists of powder coated steel structure and casework. The system can also be manufactured in stainless steel including the casework. Other casework includes laminated wood, veneer, plastic, and phenolic resin. All have specific offered finishes based on the product. Below will be a color listing and example of each based on material.
For all carbon steel products including the casework the products are first fabricated then are introduced into the finishing process. The parts are first sanded to remove all sharp edges and weld marks. The steel is then treated in an iron phosphate bath rinsed and dried in an oven. Once completely dry the parts are then powder coated to the customers specified color. All our powder painting uses an epoxy based powder for a high chemical and abrasion resistance finish. The powder is applied to the parts at depth of 3-5 mills thick for optimal results and protection. We also offer polyester hybrid powders as well these must be used where applicable.
All stainless steel will be type 304 with a number four finish or brushed look. The finish process typically takes the parts from welding into grinding, buffing, and polishing the parts until they are finished. Once finished the parts are ready for assembly.
Laminated wood products are finished with a low exposure chemical resistant finish. The lamination process completely bonds the products together for a lasting finish.
Phenolic resin casework uses a solid black core product with the selected color laminated on top and bottom of the panels. For a greater expense solid core material can also be used.
Plastic colors are solid through the material with only base colors available in white, gray, and black.
The veneer finishes are in light maple, oak, and cherry with a clear lacquer topical finish for protection for longer life.
The “green” style of casework comes in the finishes as stated above acceptation they are finished with bio safe type finishes.
Color samples are available upon request if required.
The above materials are defined with individual product data sheets and separate catalogs.
