A HIDDEN PORTION OF THE FUME HOOD THAT ACTUALLY SUPPORTS THE UNIT IS THE FRAME. ALL FRAMES ARE CONSTRUCTED FROM 18 AND 16 GAUGE COLD ROLLED STEEL OR GALVANIZED STEEL. THE COLD ROLLED STEEL IS PAINTED TO PROTECT AGAINST CORRSION. THE FRAME STRUCTURE IS ASSEMBLED FROM STEEL TUBING AND CHANNELS WELDED TOGETHER. WHILE THE FRONT AND BACK FRAME SUPPORTS ARE NUT AND BOLTED IN PLACE. THIS FRAME IS BOTH LIGHT AND STRONG TO SUPPORT THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR OF THE FUME HOOD.
LINERS:
THE INTERIOR LINERS ARE CONSTRUCTED FROM A VARIETY OF CHEMICAL RESISTANT PRODUCTS. THE LINER IS TYPICALLY A WHITE PHENOLIC RESIN THAT IS PUT TOGETHER WITH NO EXPOSED SCREWS OR BOLTS. THE ACCESS PANELS IN EACH WALL OF THE HOOD HAVE RUBBER GASKETS TO SEAL THE PANEL. THE INTERIOR ACCESS PANELS ALLOW MAINTANANCE OF PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL FIXTURES IN THE SIDE WALLS OF THE FUME HOOD WHERE APPLICABLE. THERE ARE BOTH A TOP AND BOTTOM ADJUSTABLE BAFFLE TO MANIPULATE AIR FLOW THROUGH THE FUME HOOD. MOST INTERIORS ARE PIERCED FOR PLUMBING FIXTURES BASED ON CUSTOMERS NEEDS OR FOR AN ALARM SYSTEM.
SASH:
ONE OF MANY IMPORTANT FEATURES THE SASH IS THE BARRIER BETWEEN THE MATERIAL IN THE FUME HOOD AND THE OPERATOR. THAT IS WHY IT IS CRITICAL TO HAVE A SMOOTH OPERATING SASH AND SASH ACCESSORIES. THE SASH IS THE FRONT VEIWING WINDOW THAT TYPICALLY SLIDES OPEN VERTICALLY. THE SASH IS COUNTER BALANCED WITH A WEIGHT TO ALLOW SMOOTH OPERATION WHEN SLIDING THE UP OR DOWN IN THE TRACK. THE SASH IS CONNECTED WITH A WEIGHT BY MEANS OF LAMINATED 1/8 DIA AIRCRAFT CABLE OVER CLEVIS. WHILE THE AT THE HOOD FRONT RIDES IN A PVC CHANNEL THE WEIGHT AT THE UNITS BACK ALSO SLIDES IN CHANNELS AND IS CAPPED AT BOTH ENDS WITH PLASTIC FOR SMOOTH AND QUIET OPERATION. THE SASH IS A WELDED STEEL STRUCTURE THAT HOUSES 7/32" THICK LAMINATED SAFETY GLASS SEALED IN A GASKET. THIS IS ALSO REMOVABLE THROUGH THE SASHES SUBFRAME THAT IS DETACHABLE. THIS MAKES IT EASY TO REPLACE THE GLASS IF THE MATERIAL IS DISCOLORED OR DAMAGED. THE SASH IS TYPICALLY PAINTED TO MATCH THE FUME HOOD UNLESS IT IS
STRUCTURE:
THE EXTERIOR OF THE FUME HOODS ARE TYPICALLY CONSTRUCTED FROM NO LESS THEN 18 GAUGE COLD ROLLED STEEL AND ARE POWDER COATED FOR A STRONG AND DURABLE FINISH. THERE IS NO PAINT FINISH IF OTHER MATERIALS ARE USED SUCH AS #304 STAINLESS STEEL. AS WITH THE INTERIOR LINERS EXPOSED SCREWS OR BOLTS ARE KEPT TO A MINIMUM. IN FACT MOST MODELS DO NOT HAVE A SINGLE EXPOSED SCREW OR BOLT ACROSS THE FRONT OF THE FUME HOOD. ALL OUTTER PANELS ARE REMOVABLE IN CASE OF DAMAGE OR NEEDED ACCESS TO THE INNER WALLS OF THE FUME HOODS. MOST OF LABCASES FUME HOOD MODELS USE REMOVABLE FRONT PANELS THAT ARE TYPICALLY STAINLESS STEEL. THESE CAN BE CHANGED OUT WHEN MORE OR LESS FIXTURES ARE NEEDED. THIS OPTION ALLOWS YOU TO JUST CHANGE THE PANEL NOT THE ENTIRE POST FRONT ALONG WITH PARTIAL THE DISMANTLING OF THE FUME HOOD TYPICALLY ASSOCATED WITH A CHANGE LIKE THIS.
