The Interceptor™ hood is manufactured to perform exceptionally well in ADA applications, standard by-pass or restricted by-pass applications, and low flow. All sharp or formed edges have been reduced or changed. A standard 1” form radius has been adopted throughout the Interceptor's™ construction. This hood still utilizes a galvanized steel sub-frame assembly. All exterior components are 16 or 18 gauge furniture grade steel. All steel parts are powder coated using modern techniques. This model is typically sold with a flow monitor and sash stop when required. All external and internal parts are easily removable or can be adjusted. See figures below for standard frame design and exploded view of hood. This fume hood has been tested for ASHRAE 110 and current U.L. testing for 1805 approval.
This system can be used for educational, medical, research, forensic, chemical, industrial, and biological applications. Special features of this hood include the removable / swing open airfoil with cord pass through slots. Also included with the ADA version is a removable front trough to capture spills. Snap in type interior baffles are for quick removal for cleaning or break down. No interior adjustable baffles are needed with this assembly. Baffle screens are added as needed to prevent papers from being sucked up.
Once the hood is removed from the skid and set in place, it is recommended that a certified electrician complete your electrical connections. For all plumbing connections we recommend a certified plumber to either do the complete connection and install or if pre-piped just the final connections.
For the connection of the exhaust we recommend using HVAC experts to connect your fume hood into your building system. Once connected they will also be able to balance your system by increasing the amount of air supplied to the space. They should also be able to perform ASHRAE 110 testing or have a sub-contractor to do the job.
For general performance see basic data guide.
Below is the general frame configuration. All hardware used are ¼-20 type grade 5 fasteners with lock washers total 12 places. The frame is galvanized 16gauge steel to improve strength and reduce corrosion. The vertical frame supports are also galvanized steel. Both supports and frame sides are universal.
